I have been working all of my adult life. My first job was in burger king at 16 years old and my last job leading a specialty within the NHS. I understand work is a part of life and that it is important and I don’t have a problem with working.

My problem was that I would see the politics within the working world. My old boss worked for 15 years without a single sick day, when she did fall sick with an incurable condition and asked for the company to make reasonable adjustments and allow her to work part-time, she was told she either get demoted or retire but she couldn’t keep her position.

If that’s how they treated a senior member of staff who had decades of service what hope did the rest of us have. I realised that day that when you work for someone else you are ultimately just a number.

Once I had kids, it got even harder. It was difficult to find the energy needed to manage the commute, the work and the politics at work and then go home and be on point and a good husband, householder, and present parent.

Something had to give. I didn’t want it to be my marriage or the quantity of time I spent with the family, but it couldn’t give up work either because I had a mortgage to pay and was the only one earning.

You can have it all.

I have been working all of my adult life. My first job was in burger king Heathrow terminal 1 (16 years old) and the last time I ‘worked’ was leading a specialty within the NHS (31 years old). Work is a part of life and it is important but as recently as 100 years ago everyone worked for themselves and their families. The current system of study, get a job and work your way up a corporate ladder as a relatively new idea.

One of the issues with this system is that if your face doesn’t fit you might not progress as you should.
The secondly is that working for someone else involves office politics.

Thirdly there is no ‘real’ security.

My old boss worked for 15 years without a single sick day, when she did fall sick with in incurable condition and asked for the company to make reasonable adjustments and allow her to work part time, she was told she either get demoted or retire but she couldn’t keep her position.
If that’s how they treated a senior member of staff who had decades of service what hope did the rest of us have. I realised that day that when you work for someone else you are ultimately just a number.
I then started working for myself which I thought was my ticket to freedom. In reality 90% of businesses fail in the first 5 years even if it does succeed you end up with “golden handcuffs”; forever being on and thinking about work because the business doesn’t function without you.
I used to sleep at 2-4am each night after working 11pm-2am and then get up for 8am to help with the kids. I don’t think I got up for amritvela more than a handful of times after the birth of our 2nd child.
I was working and trying to juggle everything. I was in such a state, that I would get palpitations from all the coffee + sleep deprivation + lack of exercise + exhaustion.
I accepted that that was just the way adult life was but I didn’t like feeling dissatisfied, unfulfilled, exhausted and I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life working in a job just for the sake of money.

I needed a way out.

I wanted entrepreneurial and inspiration videos on youtube; speeches by Steve Jobs and when he talked about engineering the life you want it seemed so impossible at the time. I tried lots of things like writing ebooks, trading and selling on eBay but none of those gave me fulfillment or a good return on the time invested. I disliked trading because I hated my fate was at the mercy of someone else; the market. Property investing requires a lot of capital and all of these self-proclaimed success coaches on the internet seemed fake to me. If they were doing so well why would they need to sell courses for thousands of pounds.

Fast forward to now and I can truly say I am happy, I love what I do, I get to earn good money whilst helping people at the same time, I get to work from home without any overheads or staff and I can work around the kids schedule. I get to take the kids away whenever I want and am not bound to an office. I have a good sleep routine now and can get up for amritvela and get in a workout everyday to. I feel like I have the world’s best job. I now realise YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL.

Just last month we decided that we would go away on holiday in a few days time and spend some quality time with the kids on the beach. The kids loved it and it’s brought us closer together as a family. I didn’t need to worry about getting annual leave approved or how much it was going to cost. That would never be possible if I had been working a tradition job.

What’s even better is that the opportunity provides residual income so it’s not based on the hours I work and once I got up and running, I get paid even when I am not working. What’s even better is that there are no startup costs, no overheads and none of the risks that you would associate with tradition businesses.

Now I want to pay it forward and show other parents how they can do this too and so I have written a FREE ebook. The ebook explains the best of what I have learned from spending £1000’s and hours on courses, books, and coaching and it’s yours for FREE. I hope the information transform your life and the life of your family as it did mine.
